The Host

Episode 12 – Mandi

Mandi is a hairstylist and makeup artist that loves Laffy Taffy jokes, wants to come back as a mermaid in her next life, has pink hair, and will make you laugh if you ever get the chance to sit down and talk with her. Mandi is great at her job, working in a hair and makeup salon, and she has plans to stay there for a very long time. Due to the nature of her work, Mandi gets to talk to and meet new people all the time, something that I am pretty jealous of if I’m being honest. Listen in as Mandi and I discuss awkward conversations in the salon, sad movie moments, reasons to be jailed, getting dunked on verbally by your nana, and how people are like cupcakes and far too often we only lick the surface.

Episode 10 – Tracy, Ricki, Nicolle

For our tenth episode we have something a little different. As our first milestone of sorts, we have a returning guest, Tracy, and she’s brought along her two best friends, Ricki and Nicolle. We met Tracy in episode 1, but we learn a bit more about her here. We also meet Ricki and Nicolle and learn the history of their friendship with Tracy and what makes their bond so tight. This episode was a riot to record in person together at Nicolle’s home. After the show we spent hours just talking more about life and the world.

Ricki, Nicolle, and Tracy share a friendship that is unshakable and could serve as a perfect model for what true friends should be. They always have each other’s back, they aren’t afraid to set each other straight, and they know when it’s time to goof and when it’s time to set aside the giggles and get serious.

Episode 5 – Vicky

Vicky joined me for episode 5 and immediately I was won over by her positive outlook on life and her desire to help others find their way in life. Vicky has a lot of personal projects going on, which include recently publishing her own book of poetry, running an amazing website where people can anonymously share their struggles, a podcast about finding success in life, and much more! Episode 4 – Chauncey

Chauncey is a fantastic personality that we were lucky to have for one of the first episodes of the show. Working part time as an art curator, Chauncey has a few really cool projects that he’s been involved in and has coming up in the future. Able to find meaning in the big and small things in life, Chauncey was an uplifting guest to have on the show and I look forward to getting out and seeing his work in the art world firsthand. If you’re a fan of Awkward Family Photos, you just might have spotted Chauncey in the past…

Episode 3 – Jay

Jay is the kind of guy that by the time we had set up the mics and done a quick sound check I already knew we could be great friends. Jay and I sat down in a city park in Layton, Utah and after the recording we spent a good amount of time talking and continuing to get to know each other.

Jay is best described as a person that is willing to help. Be it his family or total strangers, Jay lends his time to make the others around him enjoy life more fully. Jay works with the Sleep in Heavenly Peace charity, which provides beds for children in need across the United States, and he works specifically with the Syracuse, Utah chapter. If you would like to support Jay’s efforts with the charity, check out https://www.shpbeds.org/ and make a donation.
